Steve Perkins Top 3 in State

Last week MSDWT announced the excitement of North Central High School Latin teacher Steve Perkins being named as a top 10 finalist in the state of Indiana for the Teacher of the Year award. Today, the Indiana Department of Education announced the top 3 finalists, and Steve Perkins is among those 3!

Perkins was selected this past May as the Washington Township Teacher of the Year, at the End of the Year celebration for the district. He was notified yesterday in another surprise announcement in his classroom by the IDOE, of his new top three ranking among educators in the state. The original nomination for Perkins stated:

“As a master teacher, Mr. Perkins brings a “dead language” to life by demonstrating enthusiasm, strong communication skills and a willingness to infuse every lesson with creativity.  His passion for learning is contagious and his ability to inspire young learners is to be admired.  Before we identified the IB Learner Profiles in our schools, there was a balanced, caring, master communicator, knowledgeable, open-minded, principled, reflective thinker who developed inquiring students who were and continue to be risk-takers. Gratias ago vos magister!”
