Testing Information for the SAT

Hello Students and Families

At North Central High School, we believe in breaking down barriers and providing tools and support to succeed in life after high school. That’s why, on March 6, 2024, eLearning Day, all juniors WILL take the SAT® in school, in a comfortable and convenient setting, so that:

  • Students fulfill their mandatory state accountability test.
  • Students have the opportunity for qualifying for a Graduation Pathway.
  • Students can use this test to meet any college or scholarship requirements.

The SAT measures the knowledge and skills your student is learning in school and that matter most for college and career readiness. Even if they’re not planning to apply to college, or only planning to apply to colleges that are test optional, the SAT can help get them to where they want to go. The SAT will be delivered in a new digital format that provides a better testing experience. Watch this video to see what your student can expect with the digital SAT. Some of the benefits include:

  • The test is now 46 minutes shorter.
  • Students will have more time per question.
  • Questions will have shorter reading passages.
  • All students have access to a built in graphing calculator.

To help prepare for the test, your student will have access to free full-length practice tests in Bluebook™, College Board’s digital testing application, and Official Digital SAT Prep with Khan Academy®. And, when they receive their score report, it will have personalized insights on career options. Learn more about the SAT at the SAT School Day Student Guide.

Your teen will take the SAT on March 6, 2024, using their FULLY CHARGED, school issued Chromebook.  Remember, students CANNOT access their cell phones during testing, including during breaks.

Please direct any SAT questions to your student’s counselor.

Homework Help

Juniors, the Class of 2025 Grade Level Support Team wants to call your attention to a free service that is available to students. We know that balancing your schoolwork load and other responsibilities can be challenging, especially as your high school courses become more difficult.

AskRose.org is a free tutoring service available through Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. If you aren’t familiar with Rose-Hulman, it is a well-respected science and engineering college in Terre Haute, IN. Their students volunteer their time to tutor grades 6-12 students in math and science, via phone, email, and chat. Privacy is emphasized, and the tutors will not know your last name or contact information. They will also not just give you the answers…they will help you understand the material and guide you to the correct answer.

You can find more information online through AskRose.org, or by calling 877-ASK-ROSE (877-275-7673)

The available tutor hours are 3-5 PM Monday-Thursday, and 7-10 PM Sunday-Thursday.
