The Middle Years Program (MYP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB) is a five-year educational program for grades 6 through 10. North Central High School is responsible for years four and five of the program: grades 9 and 10.
The fundamental concepts of the MYP are:
  • Intercultural awareness
  • Holistic learning
  • Communication

MYP places the learner at its center.  This underscores the IB belief in educating the whole person and placing importance on student inquiry.  The MYP is designed to guide students in their search for a sense of self and a sense of place in their natural and social world.  The global contexts are the lens through which curriculum intersects with the world outside of the classroom thereby fostering authentic learning and encouraging students to see themselves as global citizens.
